Chaconne of the Water

Chaconne of the Water is a pseudo-etude written to help clarinetists develop fluency in the key of B♭ minor, which demands frequent use of auxiliary (pinky) keys.

A chaconne is a musical form built on a repeating chord progression or bass line, often associated with a slow, expressive character. This piece follows that tradition, unfolding through six variations that explore texture, phrasing, and emotional depth—all while evoking the image of a solitary figure reflecting along the coastline.
